Val Verde Regional Medical Center’s Auxiliary once again made wishes come true with a bladder scanner for the Medical/Surgical to use. Each year, VVRMC’s Auxiliary raises funds through sales from the gift shops, sponsored sales and, of course, popcorn sales. They use the funds to provide scholarships for Del Rio High School grads and to fulfill departmental “wish lists” at the hospital. The main requirement is that the item be of direct benefit to patients at VVRMC.

The bladder scanner can be used to identify bladder distention, causes of urinary frequency and bladder irritability. It is a safe, painless, non-invasive procedure allowing trained staff to assess a variety of bladder issues. How is this good for patients? There will be a reduction in unnecessary placement of urinary catheters. Urinary catheters, while medically beneficial, sometimes come with some discomfort, pain and infections. The Bio-Con 750 bladder scanner ultrasound device can help pinpoint bladder issues which can be medically addressed in other ways.

VVRMC’s Auxiliary is dedicated to doing everything possible to support high quality healthcare for every patient. To help support their efforts, come shopping at VVRMC on August 22 and 23 from 7 am to 4 pm in the Education Conference Room at the old main entrance. There will be housewares, electronics, athletic shoes, handbags and much more on sale.
