The Institute of Therapeutic Medicine at VVRMC patient testimonial
Monday, February 13, 2017
Paula Velasquez was recently in a car accident and sadly broke her right arm. She went to see Dr. Floyd an orthopedic surgeon at VVRMC who referred her to The Institute of Therapeutic Medicine at VVRMC. She completed 30 sessions working with an occupational physical therapist three times a week beginning November 30, 2016 and finalized her treatments on February 10, 2017.
She started with Inferential Current Therapy in order to decrease swelling and inflammation to help eliminate pain. Paula was also provided with several paraffin treatments. This helped soothe her chronic joint pain and relaxed her stiff muscles, as well as, improving blood flow to the treated area. Her pain immediately decreased after a few sessions and the multi-therapy approach promoted fast healing when combined with the therapeutic exercises.
Paula is currently functioning at her maximum potential and is now able to return to work pain free. After three months, she quickly went back to her daily functional activities independently in a safe manner. "I am so thankful for the care I received from Arturo Mendiola (Occupational Therapist) and Diana Wilburn (Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant)," stated Paula. Another example of the quality of care provided by VVRMC's Institute of Therapeutic Medicine.
