Minimum Entry Level Qualifications

  1. Academic Preparation:

Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, business or a related field. Master's degree preferred. SHRM certification preferred.

  1. Experience and/or level of competency:

Five (5) years’ of progressive work experience in Human Resources with a minimum of three (3) years’ supervisory experience required, preferably in a hospital setting.

  1. Knowledge / Skills:
  • Extensive knowledge of local, state, and federal employment/ labor laws
  • Ability to work with only general direction, and provide direction and guidance to others
  • Must be able to simultaneously manage multiple tasks and be able to prioritize by levels of importance and urgency
  • Excellent organization skills and maintain attention to detail while often under difficult deadlines
  • Proficient computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be able to work on complex problems and provide solutions
  • Excellent analytical skills, judgment, and innovative thinking
  • Must be able to handle personnel matters with confidentiality and sensitivity
  • Proficient in Human Resources Information Systems

Job Summary:

The Human Resource Director is in charge of the human resources department within the hospital, overseeing the entire functioning of the department. This position reports directly to the CEO. Duties include recruitment of employees, on boarding, retention initiatives, compensation and benefits of employees while managing employee-employer relations are all functions of this position.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
  • Supports management by providing human resources advice, counsel, and decisions; analyzing information and applications.
  • Guides management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines; communicating and enforcing organization values
  • Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
  • Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
  • Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.
  • Implements human resources strategies by establishing department accountabilities, including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, and labor relations.
  • Accomplishes special project results by identifying and clarifying issues and priorities; communicating and coordinating requirements; expediting fulfillment; evaluating milestone accomplishments; evaluating optional courses of action; changing assumptions and direction.
  • Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
  • Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
  • Ensures department stays focused on their important role in the continuum of care.
  • Responsible for sending out and tracking probationary evaluations for new employees and for sending out and tracking yearly employee evaluations as appropriate.
  • Responsible for completing Workers Compensation information in a timely manner as well maintaining OSHA requirements.
  • Responsible for attending Compliance meetings, Quality meetings and Administrative meetings as required to report human resources statistics and relevant information.
  • Other duties as assigned.
