It's as easy as 1, 2, 3
Step 1: Examination
To initiate a physical therapy program, a physical therapist must first examine the patient. This includes gathering history and selecting and administering specific tests and measures to obtain data.
Step 2: Plan of care
The physical therapist will work with the patient, doctors, family and caregivers to determine goals. These goals will determine the specific types of interventions the team will use to achieve the desired outcome.
Step 3: Intervention
There are several ways to achieve your physical therapy goals. Exercise, strength training, balance training, manual therapy techniques, postural retraining, wound care and education are just a few of those ways.
