Xochy Hurtado, FACHE
Chief Executive Officer
Xochy Hurtado, MHA is the Chief Executive Officer at Val Verde Regional Medical Center. She has over twelve years of progressive leadership/management experience in the healthcare industry. Hurtado brings her knowledge and experience from Methodist Hospital and Methodist Children’s Hospital in San Antonio, Texas where she spent two years as the Vice President of Operations. Prior to her employment at Methodist, she was the Chief Operations Officer for six years at Mainland Medical Center, a 225-bed hospital in Texas City, Texas and for two and a half years as the Associate Administrator for the 475-bed Clear Lake Regional Medical Center in Webster, Texas.
Hurtado earned her bachelor of science in biomedical science from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas and her master of science from Trinity University with a specialization in healthcare administration from San Antonio, Texas.
Hurtado is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Chief Nursing Officer
Linda Rittermeyer, Chief Nursing Officer, joined Val Verde Regional Medical Center in 2016. Rittermeyer has 25 plus years of nursing experience, and most recently served as the ACNO at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio and prior to Texas was the CNO at Frankfort Regional Medical Center. She also service as the Interim Chief Nursing Officer at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas. Previous to her interim role, she served as the Associate Chief Nursing Officer in the HCA Executive Developmental Program designed to mentor nursing leaders as Chief Nursing Officer from June 2012 to April 2012.
As Chief Nursing Officer, her main responsibilities are to develop the annual nursing strategic plan for the hospital and to oversee all nursing areas. Her day-to-day oversight includes: Critical Care Services, Cardiovascular services, The Emergency Department, Surgical Services, Medical-Surgical Unit, Women's Health, Education, Nursing Informatics, Infection control, Hospice and Quality and Process Improvement.
Linda began her career at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri as a Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse and has advanced her nursing career serving in many different positions, including: NICU Charge Nurse, Pediatric Operating Room Nurse specializing in Ortho, Spine, and Open Hearts, daVinci Robot Coordinator, OB/BYN and Urology Operating Room Manger, and Director of Perioperative Services.
Linda Rittermeyer earned her MBA from Marylhurst University in Oregon. She received her Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. She has an advanced certification for Perioperative Nursing as a CNOR and working on her certification for Advance Nurse Executive. She is an active member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) and American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).
VP of Operations
Rhonda Crawford is the Vice President of Operations. Rhonda brings more than 20 years of healthcare administration and clinical experience to this role, having served the last 6 years with Rideout Health a non-profit community-based system comprised of two acute-care: Rideout Memorial Hospital 173 beds, and Fremont Medical Center 60 beds, in Northern California, as Administrative Director of Ancillary Services and the last 2 years as Vice President and Assistant Administrator. Her previous experience includes serving as Director of Respiratory Therapy at an HCA hospital in the Florida Panhandle. Rhonda received her Bachelor of Science from the Florida State University at Tallahassee Florida and Master in Management-Healthcare Administration from Troy University in Troy Alabama.
She looks forward to working with the VVRMC team to meet the needs of our patients, and becoming actively involved in the community.
Crawford is a member of American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).
VP of Human Resources
Carlos Torres has worked in the human resources arena for more than 25 years in various capacities, including recruitment, employee relations, diversity, compensation and benefits design, strategic management, and employee development. He began his human resources career at Santa Rosa Health Care as a nurse recruiter and during his 17-year career there, ascended to vice president of human resources. For the past 7 years he worked Broadway Bank as the human resources director. He was in charge of the strategic direction for Broadway Bank’s workforce, including talent acquisition, organizational development, succession planning, wellness and workplace culture and diversity.
A San Antonio native, Carlos graduated from Central Catholic High School. He has a Bachelor’s degree from St. Edward’s University in Austin. He is very active in the San Antonio community, serving as the 2014/2015 chairman of the American Diabetes Association Leadership Board, co-chairman for the 2014 KLRN Wine Festival and as the 2013/2014 chairman of the My Heart My Life committee for the American Heart Association. In April of 2015 he was inducted as a member of the Rey Feo Consejo Educational Foundation. Among his recognitions, Carlos received the 40 Under 40 Award, the Multicultural Leadership Award from the National Diversity Council, and the Irving A. Ratner M.D. Memorial Award from The Patient Institute in 2015.
Carlos is an avid runner and in 2013, completed 6 half marathons and continues lace up for various running events throughout Texas. In 2016 he is committed to completing twelve 10k runs.
