Steven Hale, FACHE
Interim-chief executive officer and chief operating officer
Steven Hale is the chief operations officer and the interim chief executive officer at VVRMC. He is a distinguished military graduate from North West Missouri State University, Maryville, MO and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Medical Service Corps in 1987. He earned a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Baylor University.
Hale has over twenty years of progressive experience in the healthcare industry, serving as COO at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany and Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii. He retired from the Army after twenty six years of service.
Hale’s military awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star medal, Meritorious Service medal (7th Oak Leaf Cluster), the Iraq Campaign medal with bronze star and the Expert Field Medical badge.
Hale is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Interim-chief financial officer
Eddie Read is currently serving at the Interim Chief Financial Officer for Val Verde Regional Medical Center. Eddie has over 31 years of healthcare finance experience. He has been active in interim CFO work the past three years. Before that, he was at Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi as the Vice President of Finance for seven years before an early retirement. Eddie has both a not-for-profit and for-profit background. His experience covers hospitals, home health, hospice, and DME. He is happily married living in Spring Branch just north of San Antonio and has five children and eleven grandchildren.
Interim Chief Nursing Officer
Kathy Fletcher is the interim Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) for VVRMC. She has over 30 years of nursing experience with 15 of those years being in management and leadership. She, in the past, has been directly responsible for quality care in both the Intensive Care Unit and the Emergency Department.
She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, graduating with honors in 2003 with a Master in Nursing. She was awarded the Student leadership and Service Award from UTHSCSA in 2000.Back to top
